8:30PM | CNY 2024 Media Preview | Rise of the Dragon 蟄龍覺醒

This CNY, the back alley of Kwai Chai Hong hosts an epic game of Mahjong as we present to you an installation entitled the Rise of the Dragon  蟄龍覺醒 - in collaboration with 2 super talented local artists Wong Jia Min and Lee Chaer Shean of Plus+Plus. Featuring an energetic, dynamic, and playful spin on the ancient game invented by the Chinese from the Qing Dynasty in the mid-to-late 1800s, join in the fun as we welcome the auspicious new year of the Dragon.

Here is another interesting folklore about this grand mythical creature. Legend has it, that the Great Dragon hibernates in deep slumber every Winter as it recharges and gathers all its energy patiently awaiting to spring into action on the first day of Spring! Combining that with the celebration of a new year, and a brand new refreshing start, there isn't a louder celebration than one with a game of Mahjong! 

The Rise of the Dragon 蟄龍覺醒 installation features a blend of Chinese traditions that transcend the ordinary with a twist, presenting the profound cultural significance in the wonders of the new modern world. Today, this highly popular game is played around the world. 

This Chinese New Year installation is a vibrant fusion of traditional and modern creativity that will surely blow your mind as they weave intricate and artistic architecture into a masterpiece installation that will feast your eyes. Everyone will walk away a winner in this fun game of Mahjong at Kwai Chai Hong.

Get your cameras ready as we whisk you away on a 1-hour journey into a realm of loud reverberations of clashing tiles, to experience the art installation. There are 5 x 1-hour slots to choose from. Each Media / Content Creator will be allocated an hour with a maximum of 25 pax each session for a more intimate tour and photo/video session.
